Case 004 - The Shattered One

"This case is not an attempt to prove a theory.
It is an invitation to explore one."

Some investigations begin with an ancient manuscript.

Others with an archaeological discovery.

This one begins by looking up.

The Thirteenth Sign

Most people know the twelve signs of the zodiac.

But the Sun's apparent path across the sky passes through another constellation as well:

OPHIUCHUS
THE SERPENT BEARER

Ophiuchus is not a recently discovered constellation. It has been known since antiquity. Nor did astronomers suddenly add a new astrological sign.

It was already there.

A man standing among the stars…

holding a serpent.

The serpent itself is Serpens, traditionally divided into two parts:

  • Serpens Caput — the Serpent's Head.
  • Serpens Cauda — the Serpent's Tail.

Nothing mysterious needs to be assumed.

But for our investigation, one detail is irresistible.

The familiar zodiac contains twelve signs.

Yet the Sun also passes through Ophiuchus.

The Serpent Bearer stands outside the familiar twelve.

And in our own age, the so-called "thirteenth sign" has repeatedly returned to public attention.

Why?

Perhaps simply because information travels faster today.

Perhaps nothing more.

But The Watchman marks the first item on the board:

📌 The Serpent Bearer

Evidence 01 — The Pierced Serpent

Now open one of the oldest books of the Bible.

Job.

There we encounter a strange description:

"By His power He stirred the sea,
and by His understanding He shattered Rahab…"

"…His hand pierced the fleeing serpent."

— Job 26:12–13

Read that again.

Rahab — shattered.

A fleeing serpent — pierced by His hand.

This passage does not say that Rahab was a planet.

It does not mention Ophiuchus.

It does not describe an asteroid belt.

But the language is remarkable.

And Job is not alone.

Isaiah looks back toward the "days of old" and cries:

"Was it not You who cut Rahab apart
and pierced the dragon?"

— Isaiah 51:9

Then Isaiah speaks elsewhere of:

Leviathan the fleeing serpent.
Leviathan the twisting serpent.
And the dragon.

— Isaiah 27:1

Something ancient is being remembered through the language of cosmic conflict.

Rahab.

Leviathan.

The serpent.

The dragon.

Shattered.

Pierced.

Defeated.

The Watchman places a second photograph on the board.

📌 THE SHATTERED ONE

A red thread connects it to:

📌 THE SERPENT

Evidence 02 — An Older War?

The Bible is not the only ancient literature containing stories of cosmic combat.

Ancient Mesopotamia preserved the Enūma Eliš.

There we meet Tiamat: a primordial adversary associated with the chaotic waters.

Marduk battles her.

Her forces include monstrous creatures, serpents and dragons.

Tiamat is defeated.

Her body is divided.

And from the aftermath comes cosmic ordering.

This does not mean:

TIAMAT = RAHAB

Nor does it prove that either story records a destroyed planet.

But now we have two ancient traditions preserving remarkably similar ingredients:

Chaos.

A monstrous adversary.

Serpent or dragon imagery.

Divine combat.

Piercing or destruction.

Cosmic ordering.

What if later civilizations preserved distorted fragments of something much older?

Or…

what if cosmic combat was simply a powerful ancient way of describing God's victory over chaos?

Both possibilities remain on the board.

Evidence 03 — The Missing World

Now leave the ancient manuscripts.

Look at our Solar System.

Mars.

Then…

a vast population of rocky bodies.

Then Jupiter.

We call it the:

ASTEROID BELT.

Asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter

Today astronomers do not regard the main asteroid belt as the remains of one exploded Earth-sized planet.

Modern models instead connect it with material left from the formation and violent early evolution of the Solar System, heavily influenced by Jupiter.

Case closed?

Not quite.

Because historically, scientists themselves once considered another possibility.

After the first asteroids were discovered in the early nineteenth century, astronomer Heinrich Wilhelm Olbers proposed that these bodies might be fragments of a former planet.

A world that had been destroyed.

The hypothesis was eventually abandoned.

But the hypothetical lost planet acquired an extraordinary name:

PHAËTON

Evidence 04 — The Fall of Phaëton

Phaëton was already the name of a figure from Greek mythology.

The story tells of a young man who attempts to drive the chariot of the Sun.

But he cannot control it.

The normal order of the heavens is disturbed.

Earth is endangered.

Then divine intervention comes.

A thunderbolt.

Phaëton is struck.

And he…

falls from heaven.

Much later, the same name would become associated with the hypothetical destroyed world between Mars and Jupiter.

Again:

the planet was named after the myth.

The myth is not evidence that Greek people knew about an exploded planet.

But The Watchman cannot resist writing the comparison underneath:

HEAVENLY DISORDER

↓

DIVINE STRIKE

↓

FALL

↓

DESTRUCTION

And beside it:

RAHAB — SHATTERED

SERPENT — PIERCED

Evidence 05 — Lightning

There is another word already lying on our desk.

Lightning.

Jesus said:

"I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven."

— Luke 10:18

And another ancient text gives us an especially strange image.

In 1 Enoch 43–44, heavenly stars are observed and some appear to undergo a transformation associated with lightning.

That does not establish a connection with Phaëton.

But Case 002 already forced us to put these words together:

STARS

HEAVENLY BEINGS

LIGHTNING

TRANSFORMATION

FALL

Now Phaëton has independently brought lightning and a catastrophic heavenly fall back onto our board.

Coincidence?

Probably.

But the red thread stays.

Evidence 06 — The Serpent in the Sky

Return to Ophiuchus.

The figure stands holding Serpens.

A man.

A serpent.

A head.

A tail.

And now an unavoidable biblical passage appears:

"He shall bruise your head,
and you shall bruise His heel."

— Genesis 3:15

We must be careful.

The Bible never identifies Ophiuchus with Christ.

There is no historical evidence proving that Genesis 3:15 was encoded into this constellation.

But suppose the image is older than the interpretation we inherited.

Suppose ancient peoples inherited fragments of celestial traditions whose original meaning had already begun to change.

Could the figure restraining the serpent once have represented something different?

We do not know.

But now our board contains:

THE SERPENT BEARER

THE SERPENT'S HEAD

THE PIERCED SERPENT

THE SHATTERED ADVERSARY

And the oldest biblical promise of victory over the serpent begins with…

his head.

Evidence 07 — Twelve... and One

Now The Watchman notices another number.

Twelve.

The traditional zodiac has twelve signs.

The Bible also repeatedly organizes God's people around twelve.

Twelve tribes of Israel.

Twelve apostles.

And at the end of Scripture, the New Jerusalem has:

twelve gates, bearing the names of the tribes,

and

twelve foundations, bearing the names of the apostles.

— Revelation 21:12–14

Jesus even tells the Twelve that they will sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

— Matthew 19:28

Twelve.
Twelve.
Twelve.

But Jesus is not simply apostle number thirteen.

There are the Twelve…

and there is Christ.

So perhaps we have been asking the wrong question about Ophiuchus.

What if the interesting question is not:

WHY ARE THERE THIRTEEN?

But:

WHAT IF IT IS TWELVE… AND ONE?

Twelve familiar figures around the zodiac.

And another figure along the path of the Sun:

the Serpent Bearer.

This proves nothing.

There is no biblical text saying:

twelve zodiac signs = twelve apostles.

But as a pattern on our investigation board, it is difficult to ignore.

TWELVE…
AND ONE.

Evidence 08 — Joseph Looks Up

And surprisingly, Scripture itself gives us permission to investigate celestial symbolism.

Not astrology.

Symbolism.

Joseph dreams:

"Behold, the sun and the moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me."

— Genesis 37:9

Jacob immediately understands the symbolism as referring to his family.

The eleven stars represent Joseph's brothers.

Joseph himself completes the family of twelve sons from whom the tribes of Israel emerge.

So Scripture itself contains an unmistakable example in which:

A FAMILY ON EARTH

is represented by:

HEAVENLY LIGHTS ABOVE.

That does not make the zodiac biblical.

But suddenly the idea of twelve earthly representatives being mirrored through celestial imagery is not entirely foreign to Scripture.

And then we reach the final book of the Bible.

Evidence 09 — Twelve Stars and a Dragon

Revelation 12 opens with an extraordinary scene.

A woman appears in heaven.

She is clothed with the Sun.

The Moon is beneath her feet.

And upon her head:

A CROWN OF TWELVE STARS.

Then another figure appears.

A great red:

DRAGON.

The woman gives birth to a male child who is destined to rule the nations.

The dragon attempts to destroy him.

But the child is caught up to God.

Then:

WAR BREAKS OUT IN HEAVEN.

Michael and his angels fight the dragon.

And Revelation identifies that dragon explicitly:

"That ancient serpent…"

— Revelation 12:9

Stop.

Look at our board.

TWELVE STARS.

A CHILD DESTINED TO RULE.

THE DRAGON.

THE ANCIENT SERPENT.

WAR IN HEAVEN.

And eventually:

THE SERPENT IS CAST DOWN.

Now return once more to Genesis.

The first promise concerning the serpent spoke of:

the woman.

her offspring.

the serpent.

the crushing of its head.

Genesis begins the pattern.

Revelation brings it toward completion.

WOMAN.

CHILD.

SERPENT.

CONFLICT.

VICTORY.

Evidence 10 — The Returning King

Then Revelation moves toward the return of Christ.

Revelation 19 presents Him as the conquering King.

And immediately afterward, Revelation 20 describes an angel seizing:

"the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the Devil and Satan…"

The serpent is bound.

Now our speculative overlay becomes almost irresistible.

AT HIS FIRST COMING:

Christ chooses the Twelve.

AT HIS RETURN:

Christ appears as King.

AND THEN:

the ancient serpent is seized.

So place the celestial picture beside the biblical one.

Not as doctrine.

Not as prophecy encoded in astrology.

Simply as an image:

TWELVE — AND THE SERPENT BEARER.

Could Ophiuchus merely be another constellation inherited from ancient mythology?

Of course.

That remains the normal historical explanation.

But what if the image preserves something older?

What if the figure outside the familiar twelve was never intended to be merely:

NUMBER THIRTEEN?

What if the more interesting pattern was always:

THE TWELVE…

AND THE ONE.

Evidence 11 — The Serpent That Became a Circle

There is another ancient serpent image.

Not Ophiuchus.

Not Serpens.

THE OUROBOROS.

The Ouroboros and the Milky Way

A serpent consuming its own tail.

A circle.

No obvious beginning.

No obvious end.

Across history, the Ouroboros became associated with cycles, renewal, recurrence and eternity.

And seen from Earth, the Milky Way itself forms a great band around the celestial sphere.

The Milky Way is not literally an Ouroboros.

But place the images beside each other.

A COSMIC BAND.

A SERPENT.

A CIRCLE.

And suddenly another question appears.

What if the most interesting "prison" isn't space?

What if it is…

DECAY?

Evidence 12 — The Circle

Look at human existence.

Birth.

Growth.

Ageing.

Death.

Then another generation.

Birth.

Growth.

Ageing.

Death.

Again.

And again.

Ecclesiastes describes a world filled with cycles.

The Sun rises and sets.

The wind circles.

The rivers run toward the sea.

Generations come and generations go.

Paul gives the condition another name.

DECAY.

Romans 8 says creation was subjected to futility and is in bondage to corruption.

Creation itself groans.

Now look again at the Ouroboros.

Earth surrounded by cosmic circle

The serpent consumes its own tail.

The circle continues.

What if — purely as symbolism — this ancient image accidentally captures something profound about the fallen world?

Not imprisonment by time.

But imprisonment within:

CORRUPTION.

AGEING.

DECAY.

DEATH.

A circle no human being can break.

Evidence 13 — Until Someone Breaks the Circle

Then something happens within history.

Christ dies.

And rises.

For the Christian story, resurrection is not merely survival after death.

It is victory over death.

Paul writes:

"The last enemy that will be destroyed is death."

— 1 Corinthians 15:26

Revelation describes the dragon as:

"that ancient serpent."

Then Revelation 20 describes something extraordinary.

The serpent is bound.

One thousand years.

Afterward he is released for a short time.

One final rebellion follows.

And then:

the ancient serpent is defeated permanently.

But Revelation does not stop there.

Something else is thrown into the lake of fire.

DEATH.

And shortly afterward comes the promise:

"There shall be no more death."

— Revelation 21:4

The serpent disappears.

Death disappears.

The former creation passes away.

A new creation begins.

The circle has been broken.

Evidence 14 — The Seventh Day

And now we enter the most speculative room in the investigation.

Some ancient Jewish and Christian interpreters compared the seven days of Creation with the course of world history.

A thousand years as a day.

Six "days" of human history.

Then a seventh:

rest.

That creates the famous speculative model:

6,000 YRS human history
1,000 YRS Messianic reign
7,000 YRS a cosmic Sabbath

Scripture never gives us a calendar allowing us simply to declare that this model determines the date of the end.

So we won't.

But for our thought experiment, notice what happens near the conclusion of Revelation's thousand years:

The ancient serpent reaches his end.

Then death reaches its end.

Then comes new creation.

If the seventh millennium theory happened to contain some truth…

then the seventh "day" would end not merely with another turn of the wheel.

It would end with the destruction of the wheel's greatest power:

DEATH.

The Forbidden Question

Now stand back from the board.

We began with:

a so-called thirteenth sign.

But perhaps "thirteen" was never the most interesting number.

Because now we have:

Twelve tribes. Twelve apostles. Twelve gates. Twelve foundations. Joseph's celestial family. Twelve stars in Revelation.

A woman. A promised child. A dragon. An ancient serpent. A war in heaven.

AND SOMEWHERE ALONG THE PATH OF THE SUN:

a figure holding a serpent.

Then:

Rahab — shattered.

The fleeing serpent — pierced.

Phaëton — struck and fallen.

A hypothetical lost world.

An asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The Ouroboros.

The circle of decay.

The thousand years.

The final defeat of the serpent.

And finally:

the death of Death itself.

None of these things proves the others.

Some connections are explicitly biblical.

Some are historical.

Some astronomical.

And others exist only inside our:

WHAT IF?

But suppose — just for a moment — that mankind inherited fragments of an ancient celestial story.

Suppose myths changed the names.

Suppose cultures changed the characters.

Suppose astronomy preserved the pictures while forgetting their original meaning.

Then perhaps the strange figure beside the familiar twelve raises a different question.

Not:

"Where did the thirteenth sign come from?"

But:

"WHO IS THE ONE STANDING WITH THE TWELVE?"

And why…

is He holding the serpent?

The Watchman's Final Note

Perhaps there was no shattered world.

Perhaps Rahab was poetic chaos imagery.

Perhaps Phaëton is simply a Greek tragedy.

Perhaps Ophiuchus is simply another ancient constellation.

Perhaps twelve is merely twelve.

Perhaps every red thread on our board connects things that were never connected at all.

Perhaps.

But Scripture itself gives us one remarkable story from beginning to end.

Genesis gives us:

the woman, her offspring and the serpent.

Revelation gives us:

a woman, a child, twelve stars and the ancient serpent.

Genesis promises that the serpent's head will be struck.

Revelation ends with the ancient serpent permanently defeated.

And then something even greater happens.

The final enemy is destroyed.

DEATH.

So perhaps the greatest mystery was never whether a planet once shattered between Mars and Jupiter.

Perhaps the greater mystery is why humanity has spent its entire history trapped within a circle it cannot break.

Birth.

Ageing.

Decay.

Death.

Again and again.

Until One entered that circle…

died…

and walked out of the grave.

Perhaps Ophiuchus means absolutely nothing.

Perhaps the Twelve mean absolutely nothing in relation to the sky.

But for one moment…

just look at the picture:

THE TWELVE.

THE ONE.

AND THE SERPENT.

Then ask the question yourself.

Coincidence?

Maybe.

But what if it isn't?

"Death is swallowed up in victory."

— 1 Corinthians 15:54

Birth Right by Timothy Alberino

Several ideas and connections that helped inspire this investigation were encountered through Alberino's work. The speculative connections and conclusions developed in this Case are those of The Triune Gates.
